Self control is the ability to control one's emotions, behaviour and desires in order to efficiently manage one's future. In psychology it is sometimes called self-regulation. Exerting self-control through the executive functions in decision making is thought to deplete a resource in the ego.
Good Pressure: When you are in a competitive yet non-judgemental and non-prejudicial environment, you want to be like those around you. You become motivated and inspired and gain self-control.
Bad Pressure: When you are in a judgemental and prejudicial environment and there is no competition you become depressed and unmotivated. You lose self-control.
No Pressure: When you are free and there is no competition, you do what you feel. Your self-control is based on how you feel and since there is no one to compare yourself to, you may be less motivated or more motivated depending on the urgency of whatever you are doing.
Self control has control. If you lose your self control, you lose the ability to control yourself. Words that we speak and the actions that we do, self control matters. I used to lose myself very easily, things that i speak or do, nothing goes to my mind first. I act it first before i can think about it, which is really bad. Can you imagine, you had hurt someone badly, and you lose the ability to think about it before hurting him/her? I never want to be like that. Even though i may be unhappy or angry with the person, i will never want to give in to my feelings/ emotions. Many times, if you loses self control, you will gain a bad friend - guilt. If you are reading this post, i urge you to think twice before acting on something. Have self control and think of what will happen next, who will suffer/ get hurt, does it benefit you... I was reminded of this verse on a quiet journey home on Dear's car. We were both too tired to talk and enjoying the quiet moments. It seldom happen though, especially with the chitty-chatty me around. :P
However, i still thank God for moments like these, it's moments like these that i can take some time off to do some reflections.
I realised that i've been easily impatient these days, easily pissed off and will tend to lose my temper often. I'm no longer the patient and cheerful girl (on the inside) anymore. Perharps i focus on more putting up a facade to people whom i'm not so close to. But to the closer ones, i may "show face".
The bible says, Guard your heart.. and from then on.. i kept meditating... You gotta guard your heart..
Someone ever told me when i was being ministered in Pst Mike's service, "Guarding your heart is very important, and you gotta meditate on it daily. If not, it will open a doorway for the unwanted habits to be in you." I never forget the moment, the Rhema word that came forth...
Things are getting difficult at work, seems like politics are arising, i'm telling myself daily:
Today marks the 3rd death anniversary of my beloved dear grandma.
My emotions were a bit unbalanced too. Obviously she is still in my heart. No one understands how much grief we suffered from her sudden death.
I can never forget what happened that day.. She called everyone to make sure that they are alright, ensure my family ate well for dinner though she was weak, make sure everything is tidy at home, but left without a word.
Through her, I learnt that words speak life and death. Through her, I learnt what is love sacrifice. She is like a mother to me. Through her, I learnt mannerism, ethics and values.
I thank God that I didn't hold any regrets after her death & thank God that He placed this powerful woman in my life.
Elaine & I went to try out something new = Princess Manicure! Since i'm a princess, i should do some princessy things! HAHA!
We managed to find a home based nails palace, Pretty Inn. It's located at boon lay and Dear dropped us there. Since the next day will be Wei & lice's wedding, i don mind spending a bit more for my nails to look good.
We started out the day with a small surprise at IMM. After fetching me to IMM, i quickly sped off to get his present at Challenger.. It's one of the most expensive gift i ever gave to someone else. =P
Next, we went to somewhere which he never went to - Underwater World. The last time i went there was so long ago that i can't even remember the place vividly.
We took a super expensive photo there. LOL. $16!

And we went to the Dolphin Lagoon for the seal and dolphin show!
After the joy of watching the animals, some of our close friends and i prepared a surprise for him at Ikoi Japanese Restuarant.. And yes, he was SURPRISED! :)
We were glad that we managed to get a special room in the restaurant, cus i booked it 2 months ago. LOL!
The settings of the room is very nice and unique. Really feel like i'm in Japan dining. In addition, it's a $33++ buffet dinner! It will definitely quench your hunger for Jap food! =)
